Firstly…take a moment and give God thanks for the rain He has blessed us with and trust Him for more,
“Jesus Christ…loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.” (Revelation 1:5)
When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he shouted, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). He was right; Jesus was the final, perfect sacrificial lamb, who offered His own lifeblood to save us.
Jesus’ blood did not just temporarily cover our sin like the blood of sacrificial lamb had done in the Old Testament. Jesus took our infirmities completely away. His blood washed away our sins, leaving us clean…and he did one time, once and for all.
Yet there are still nations in the world today who practice the sacrifice of animals and believe that their blood have cleansing properties. Look at what Jesus Himself said about traditions and the shedding of animal blood (or any other blood).
“Making the Word of God of none effect through your traditions…” (Mark 7:13)
“Neither by the blood of goats and calves but by His own blood he entered once into the Holy Place having obtain eternal redemption.” (Hebrew 9:12)
Lord, thank You for what You have done for us. Thank You that You are called the Last Sacrifice. Thank You that You have shed your blood for the sin of the world. Thank You that there is hope of salvation in You because of Your sacrifice. Amen
