Dankie Here, vir al my wonderlike webwerf vriende Amen. Dear GOD:
I want to thank You for what you have already done. I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards. I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better. I'm not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me. I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears.. I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves. I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet. I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job. I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief. I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed. I am thanking you right now. I am thanking you because I am alive. I am thanking you because I made it through the days of difficulties. I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles. I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better. I'm thanking you because FATHER, YOU haven't given up on me. God is just so good, and he's good all the time. Have a great day, and an even better tomorrow Jesus said to them, "You give them something to eat." (Luke 9:13 NRSV)
I am sure the disciples of Jesus thought he was in over his head that day when he set out to feed a multitude of 5,000 men and perhaps a greater number of women and children with only five loaves of bread and two fish. The disciples surely said to themselves, it can't be done! It's like something Charles F. Kettering once said when he was Research Head of General Motors. When he wanted a problem solved, Kettering would call together his staff. However, he would first place a table outside the room where they would be meeting with a sign that read like this: "Leave [your] slide rules here." If he didn't do that, he says, he'd find someone reaching for his slide rule in the middle of the meeting. In a few minutes, this person would be on his feet saying, "Boss, you can't do it." Isn't that true no matter what we try to accomplish in life? There is always someone saying, "You can't do it." "You can't lose that weight. You can't get that job. You can't make that marriage work. You can't really change." And because we listen to people who say it can't be done, we give up before victory is ours. I wonder what it would be like to be known. Truly be known. Have someone see your sad face, know it's your sad face and know why your sad. Have someone look at your tears and decipher whether they are tears of joy, sadness, grief or it's-just-one-of-those-days. I wonder. I wonder what it would be like to have someone know your mind. Know what you're going to say, even before you say it. Complete your sentence once you start. Know what you're thinking without saying a word. I wonder. I wonder what it would be like to have someone know your innermost thoughts, secrets and dreams. Things you've never told a soul, but somehow they know anyway. I wonder. I wonder what it would be like to have someone know your heart. Know the good and the bad. Know when you talked to that girl, stumbled over your words and offended her. Yet know your intentions were good. To know when you smiled at that other girl, but you really wanted to smack her in the face. I wonder what it would be like to have someone know what's in my heart without saying a word. The thing is, I really don't have to wonder that hard. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..." (Jeremiah 1:5) "I'm and open book to You; Even from a distance, you know what I'm thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I'm never out of Your sight. You know everything I'm going to say before I start the first sentence I look behind me and You're there, Then up ahead and You're there, too- Your reassuring presence, coming and going (Psalm 139:1-3 Thank You, Lord, for loving me. Individually. I know that You love this whole world, but thank You for loving just me. All of me. Proverbs 3:9
'Honor God with everything you own; give Him the first and the best.' - We need to honor God in everything we do. - We need to give Him our first and our best. - A little becomes much when we give it to God. - As we start this new day, let us give it to Him. PRAYER: Lord, at the start of this new day, I want to surrender myself to You. I give You these few moments and ask that You would help me as I tackle this new day. Amen. We will not accomplish much for God or for others if we wait until all our fear is gone. Face your fear with courage and do some things despite your fear. God will be with us Deut 31:6
"Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life." James 1:12
All of us want things to go our way all the time, but we have to admit that life doesn't work like that. Hard times come. Relationships are damaged. Financial worries etc. There are even times of war. Yes, the clouds and the storms really do come. Jesus said, "In this world, you will have trouble." But the good news is, He didn't stop there. He also said, "Take heart. I have overcome the world." Yes, trouble is a fact of life. But Jesus has given us a means of finding victory--the real victory--even in hard times. Allow Him to provide all you need to face the good times and the bad? He's willing and able to provide, even when things look the darkest. Put your trust in Jesus Christ. I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me. Once when we were sitting at the edge of a swimming pool, she filled the palm of her hand with some water and held it before me, and said this: "You see this water carefully contained on my hand? It symbolizes Love." This was how I saw it: As long as you keep your hand freely open and allow it to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to close your fingers round it and try to posses it, it will spill through the first cracks it finds. This is the greatest mistake that people do when they meet love... they try to posses it, they demand, they expect... and just like the water spilling out of your hand, love will retrieve from you. For love is meant to be free, you cannot change its nature. If there are people you love, allow them to be free beings. Give and don't expect. Advise, but don't order. Ask, but never demand. It might sound simple, but it is a lesson that may take a lifetime to truly practice. This is the secret to true love. To truly practice it, you must sincerely feel no expectations from those who you love, and yet an unconditional caring. Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.' - We live in a materialistic world. - People are dissatisfied and desire more and more. - But God undertakes to provide for our needs and asks us to be content. - So do the possible and leave the impossible to Him. PRAYER: Lord, help me not to be distracted and consumed with what I don't have, but help me to realize that You are with me and You will provide. Amen. |
