Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost but now I’m found Was blind, but now I see Amazing grace; what is so amazing about God’s grace. It was God’s grace that spared Adam and Eve, whom God could have wiped from the earth on first sight after their fall. It was God’s grace that saved Moses while all other Hebrew babies were killed. It was God’s grace that kept Noah and his family from drowning when God flooded a sinful world. It was God’s grace that saved Abraham, Lot and their families when the God defying Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire to ash and dust. It was grace, grace- so amazing. Grace, Amazing grace - Unmerited, undeserved favour from God. It was grace that made the blind to see, the lame to walk, the deaf to hear and the mute to talk. It was grace that saved a woman who committed adultery from death, that called Zacchaeus from a tree, that delivered a demon possessed child and raised a girl from the dead. Such grace, such amazing grace. But what about me, an undeserving, unlovable, unsaved hellbound sinner? God answers: "My grace is all you need” But Lord, I am weak and have nothing to offer! And God answers again: "My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak." (2 Corinthians 12:9) And through His Spirit God reminds me of His love for me. A love that made grace abound. A love that gave His son. And then I remember Jesus, whom because of such amazing grace, took my place, died on my behalf, died so that I may be set free, died so that I can live. Such grace, such amazing grace. Grace, God’s amazing grace is also available to you. Driven by love, God wishes to flood you with His unmerited, undeserved favor. He wishes His face to shine upon you, His light to fill your soul. In darkness, by grace, He will be your light. In need, by grace He will provide. Thirsty, hungry, alone, depressed, scared, simply lost or simply blinded by the world God says: “My grace is all you need” Such grace, such amazing grace, available to one and all, who calls upon Him, who chooses Him, and who follows Him. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound! Somebody loves me, answers my prayers
I love somebody, I know He cares Somebody tells me not to repine (to fret or to be discontented) That somebody is Jesus, and I know He’s mine (From the song: Somebody loves me sung by the Gaithers) Somebody loves us, you and me. Somebody cares about us. Somebody answers our prayers. That somebody is Jesus: Jesus the son of God, Jesus who became flesh, Jesus who died a bloody gruesome death, Jesus who rose from the grave, Jesus who ascended to heaven to prepare a place for you and me. Jesus loves us, you and me. Somebody loves us. Jesus loves us. In 2012, He will not leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5) God will supply all your needs. (Philippians 4:19) God will answer your prayers if you believe (Matthew 21:22). God will protect you, guide you and direct you. For somebody loves us: Jesus loves us. If, and only if we step into God’s love, accept God’s greatest gift, His son Jesus we too will partake in this love, the greatest love ever, love that cares, loves that gives, love that saves. If, and only if we allow Jesus into our lives, we too will receive, we too will be blessed, we too will experience the grace, the joy, the peace and provision as can only be found in Jesus. Somebody loves us, Jesus loves us. But we need to make a choice, we need to decide. Joshua said: “choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell” (Joshua 24:15) In our modern society we’re given many choices. We can choose who we will serve. Will it be wealth, fortune or fame? Will it be our fleshly desires, lust, immorality or addictions? Or will it be JESUS, Jesus Christ our Savior, deliverer and healer. Like Joshua I want to declare: “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15) Today I wish to challenge you to do the same. Decide to serve God. Give Jesus a change. Let Him take control of you’re life for somebody loves you, that somebody is Jesus Christ. |
