God wants us to follow our heart, unless He gave a specific instruction or word. See ! Chronicles 17:1-4 and Proverbs 3:6 . Do What you feel is best based on the knowledge you have and be willing to change if and when God shows you something definite.
The happiest people are those who have invested their time in others...... The unhappiest people are those who wonder how the world is going to make them happy.....
Ephesians 2:13
'But now in Christ you who once were far away have been brought near.' - It is God's express will and desire to have us close to Him. - He makes a way for you and me to know relationship with Him. - So don't stay far away but draw near to Him. - His arms are always wide open waiting to receive us. PRAYER: Lord, I run into Your arms today. Be near me I pray and may Your presence abide with me. Amen. "For You have been a defense for the helpless...a refuge from the storm..." Isaiah 25:4
A contest offered a valuable prize for the best illustration of the concept of peace, and many artists entered. There were renderings of beautiful sunsets over calm seas and hazy scenes of tranquil rivers in lush valleys. But, the prizewinner's depiction was very different from these tranquil scenes. Painted in black and gray, it depicted the terror of a violent storm. Lightning split the clouds; rain and hail pounded the ground. In the center of the painting was a storm-tossed oak tree. Holding on with all its might to one of the limbs of the tree was a little bird, singing at the top of its lungs. Now, that's true peace. You see, ultimate peace is not the absence of storms, but inner peace amidst the storms. And man never finds lasting inner peace until he finds peace with God. When you find peace with God, you begin to experience peace within yourself. It begins with knowing Christ as Lord. The blood of Jesus, God's Son, cleanses us from every sin. 1 Jn 1:7
John tells us, "We are being cleansed from every sin by the blood of Jesus." In other words, we are always being cleansed. The cleansing is not a promise for the future but a reality in the present. Let a speck of dust fall on the soul of a saint, and it is washed away. Let a spot of filth land on the heart of God's child, and the filth is wiped away… Our Savior kneels down and gazes upon the darkest acts of our lives. But rather than recoil in horror, he reaches out in kindness and says, "I can clean that if you want." And from the basin of his grace, he scoops a palm full of mercy and washes away our sin. But that's not all he does. Because he lives in us, you and I can do the same. Because he has forgiven us, we can forgive others. Just Like Jesus (Max Lucado) He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret – it leads only to evil. Psalm 37:6-8 (NIV)
Today is Human Rights Day in South Africa. Human Rights Day marks the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations. The day focuses attention on human rights issues. Ever since sin entered the world, there has been a constant clash between good and evil. Wickedness can be found both in the corridors of power and in every other sphere of human activity. One becomes aware of despotic leaders who abuse their powers and reduce their nations to poverty before going into exile, with millions amassed in foreign banks. It is the abuse inflicted on individuals, particularly women and children, that most touch the heart strings and can have us seething with righteous anger. Sometimes the abuse is so heinous, so utterly evil and depraved that one itches to avenge it. The psalmist warns against such vigilante action –“it leads only to evil”. Do not fret we are told. Instead we are exhorted to be patient and wait for the Lord to act. The Lord has his own timetable. We can remain confident that he is in control. Evil will be countered and justice will ultimately triumph. Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach us your ways. So often when we experience injustice we want to strike back in similar vein. Empower us through the Holy Spirit to counter evil with good and in so doing, reveal the knowledge of your glory. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen |
