Dit deug net as toedraaipapier vir breekbare items. Wel, hier’s nog ‘n brokkie goeie nuus — God werk ook met vervaldatums. Die jongste nuusflits oor God in Klaagliedere 3:21-22 is dat sy ontferming elke oggend nuut is. Sy goedheid is so vars soos vandag. Gister is oor en verby. Vandag is God se nuwe genadedag. Dit is sy groot dag vir ontferming. Moet dus nie een oomblik langer by gister of eergister uitkamp nie. Dit is agter die rug. Goeie herinnerings van gister en eergister mag en moet jou wel vandag nog bybly. Maar jy moet hier en nou leef met die hemelse manna wat God vandag vir jou uitgedeel het. You cannot choose what happens TO you, but you can choose what happens IN you You should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
You want to make a difference in your world? Live a holy life: Be faithful to your spouse. Be the one at the office who refuses to cheat. Be the neighbour who acts neighbourly. Be the employee who does the work and doesn't complain. Pay your bills. Do your part and enjoy life. Don't speak one message and live another. People are watching the way we act more than they are listening to what we say. A Gentle Thunder (Max Lucado) This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. — 1 John 4:9
Thoughts on Today's Verse... Love is an action. The Bible stresses this truth again and again. Love must not only be spoken, it must also be shown. The beginning of love is God. He showed his love in the most sacrificial of ways so we could know our incredible value to him. The price of our adoption was the emptying of heaven of its greatest treasure, God the Son, who is our Savior. My Prayer... Loving Father, thank you for adopting me into your family. I can never thank you enough nor ever repay you for your kindness, but please receive the service of my life as my ongoing thanksgiving for your grace and my small way of trying to share the love you have given me. Through my Brother and my Ransom I pray. Amen. The rich and the poor are alike in that the LORD made them all. Proverbs 22:2
Have you noticed that God doesn't ask you to prove that you will put your salary to good use? Have you noticed that God doesn't turn off your oxygen supply when you misuse his gifts? Aren't you glad that God doesn't give you only that which you remember to thank him for? … God's goodness is spurred by his nature, not by our worthiness. Someone asked an associate of mine, "What biblical precedent do we have to help the poor who have no desire to become Christians?" My friend responded with one word: "God." God does it daily, for millions of people. In the Eye of the Storm (Max Lucado) Psalm 32:5
'I made my sins known to You, and I did not cover up my guilt. I decided to confess them to You, O Lord. Then You forgave all my sins.' - One of the greatest blessings we can know is forgiveness. - Whoever covers over his sins will not prosper. - Whoever confesses and abandons them will receive compassion. - He is faithful and just to forgive us for the wrong things we have done. PRAYER: Lord, I confess that I don't always do the things that please You. Forgive me, I pray, and may I know the joy of what it means to be forgiven. Amen. I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry; I refuse to be downhearted, And here's the reason why... I have a God who's mighty, Who's sovereign and supreme; I have a God who loves me, And I am on His team. He is all-wise and powerful, Jesus is His name; Though everything is changeable, My God remains the same, My God knows all that's happening; Beginning to the end, His presence is my comfort, He is my dearest friend. When sickness comes to weaken me, To bring my head down low, I call upon my mighty God; Into His arms I go. When circumstances threaten To rob me from my peace; He draws me close unto His breast, Where all my strivings cease. And when my heart melts within me, And weakness takes control; He gathers me into His arms, He soothes my heart and soul. The great "I AM" is with me, My life is in His hand, The "Son of God" is my hope, It's in His strength I stand. I refuse to be defeated, My eyes are on my God He has promised to be with me, As through this life I trod. I'm looking past all my circumstances, To Heaven's throne above; My prayers have reached the heart of God, I'm resting in His love. The Love of God has never let me down, In His Strength and In His time I trust and leave my fears my tears, my hope and dreams I give God thanks in everything, My eyes are on His face; The battle's His, the victory's mine; He'll help me win the race. ______________________ How true is this, So many pray, but do not believe,So many have problems, but do not trust God Too many try to sort out their own problems Leaving God outside the door. If only they truly believe, God will open doors, yet they keep on battling through life without the courage to take God at his word. How would you fill in this blank? A person is made right with God through_____. Don’t let its brevity fool you. How you complete it is critical; it reflects the nature of your faith.
One might say a person is made right with God through... being good. Giving sandwiches to the poor. Some say Christian conduct is the secret. Perhaps suffering is the answer. Sleep on dirt floors. Malaria. Poverty. Bare feet. The greater the pain, the greater the saint. No, no, no, another contends. The way to be made right with God? It’s doctrine. Air-tight theology which explains every mystery. Inspiration clarified. Yet, how are we truly made right with God? All the above are tried. All are demonstrated. But none are from God. Romans 3:28 says, “A person is made right with God through faith.” Through faith in God’s sacrifice on the cross. It’s not what you do, it’s what He did. |
