“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Many of us secretly suspect that God only loves “good people” who have already got something going…and are already doing their best to love and obey Him. That is an easy mistake to slip into, but it is a mistake. God loves people who are still wallowing in sin, hurting themselves and others, and insisting that they don’t even need God. God has sent His Son Jesus, to make the ultimate sacrifice when we were totally underserving and unappreciative of His immense love. Look at the verse below and notice that God loved us before ANYONE WAS EVER SAVED BECAUSE THAT WAS SAID BEFORE THE CROSS OF CALVARY. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever will believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Prayer: Heavenly father how great and marvelous is Your love for us. I thank You that you loved me first and gave me the opportunity to love You back through Jesus Christ Your Son…amen Elkeen het nou ‘n plek – party sit voor, die ander agter en daar is selfs twee wat ‘n plekkie op die vloer het.
“Daar kom Wynand, hy’s alweer laat!” Ek laat die bandjie terugloop en laat haar luister na Danie Botha se “Honestly Jesus You can strip met to the Core”. Skielik begin sy saggies te huil. “Mnr., Liewe Jesus het my klaar “gestrip”. Hardop begin ek met my Vader redeneer. Dan weer half uitasem: “Ek is klaar gestrip”. ‘n Lang stilte volg. Sag 2:8 [… jy is My oogappel…] Jes 43:1-5 [… jy is Myne, jy is kostelik in My oë …] Deonette ons sien mekaar by Jesus!!!!! Past. The best way to predict the future is to invent it,” skryf Alan Kay.
Dan moet my prioriteite van nou af anders lyk. Spreuke 19:17 leer my hoe. Hierdie teks sê: “Wie hom oor ‘n arme ontferm, maak ‘n belegging by God.” Ek onthou daarom altyd Moeder Teresa se woorde as ek met ander mense, en veral met minderbevoorregtes, paaie kruis: “Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.” Vrede Moving Past Our Myths About Creativity The following moral/ethical dilemma supposedly was included on an actual job application:
You are driving down the road at night during a torrential downpour, when you pass by a bus stop. Three people are waiting for the bus: 1) An elderly lady who looks as if she needs medical attention. 2) A longtime friend who once saved your life. 3) The man/woman of your dreams (assume you’re unmarried) Which one would you offer a ride, knowing that only one additional passenger can fit in your tiny car? Explain your answer. You could pick up the elderly lady, because she looks as if she needs to go to the hospital. However, you don’t know the lady, and this could be the perfect chance to pay back the friend who had saved your life. Then again, you may never be able to find the man/woman of your dreams again… Allegedly, the candidate who eventually was hired gave the following answer: "I would give the car keys to my friend and let him take the lady to the hospital while I stayed behind and waited for the bus with the woman of my dreams." CREATIVE THINKING Breaking out of our entrenched patterns of thought can bring about tremendous gain. Yet, as much as we talk about “thinking outside of the box,” we seldom purposefully engage in creative thinking. Perhaps that’s because we’ve been deceived by common myths about creativity. Myth #1: Creative thinkers produce original ideas. We have a misconception that creativity equals originality. However, most creative advancements come by combining pre-existing ideas rather than by generating new ones. Indeed, inventive concepts don’t make a splash until someone grasps how to apply them and to advertise their benefits. Myth #2 Creative thinking happens spontaneously. Discipline and creativity are two words we wouldn’t normally associate with one another. Yet, they go hand in hand. Early on in my career, I realized that I could collect thoughts more easily than I could create them. Every day since, for more than four decades, I’ve read books and articles and filed away interesting quotes, illustrations, and stories from them. Now, whenever I write a lesson or prepare a manuscript, I have over forty years of organized material to draw upon. Myth #3 Creative thinkers are solo geniuses. One is the loneliest number, and it’s also the least creative. If I stayed within the cramped confines of my own imagination, my leadership often would be dull and uninspiring. Thankfully, I’ve had the good sense to go beyond the limitations of my own mind and to ask others to lend me their creative insights. Several of the ideas I’ve put into action haven’t been my brainchildren. In fact at one point, I had written six consecutive books without coming up with the concepts for any of them! Many times the people who we deem to be the most creative are simply those who are the most well-connected and willing to solicit ideas from their network. Application: I hope you’ll take this article as a challenge to be intentional about cultivating creativity. Here are a few practical questions to spark your creative thinking… 1) Who are the innovators in your industry and what are they doing differently than everyone else? 2) Which co-workers, customers, or partners could you recruit to help you think creatively? Specifically, what problems might they help you solve? 3) What daily habit, if started today, could add to your creativity a year from now Your old life was crucified with Christ. The person you used to be was nailed to the cross with Him at Golgotha. Now you are inseparably joined to Him. Of this you can be absolutely sure. You know it is true, not because of how you feel, but because God Himself said so in His Word. Never forget the truth of salvation. Your old self, full of unbelief and rebellion, has been put to death. You have shared in the crucifixion of Christ. When He died, you died. That old life no longer has control over you. You are no longer a slave to the person you once were. Sin is no longer your master and your body is no longer an instrument of sin. You are chained to Christ. “Now we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him” (Rom 6:8). Because you died with Christ through faith you can now also live with Him forever. Through Him you are joined with God. The new person you are doesn’t have to try to be united with Christ; you already are. And outside of your life in Christ you are nothing. “The death He died, He died to sin once and for all, but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Rom 6:10-11). I bow in awe at the amazing truth that I died on the cross with You. Let me live my new life to Your glory alone. In Jesus’ Name. Amen! Look in the deep recesses of your heart. Is there worry, jealousy,
insecurity, bitterness, anger? Why? Why have you allowed them to sneak in Why have you not run to Me? I am your High Tower. You can hide in Me and I will tell you who you are. You have spent too much time listening to everyone else tell you who you are and tell you what you should think about life and about others. I know you want more of Me – so live that. Seek Me like your life depended on it. Live for eternity every moment. Seek what I want from you. Seek what I want you to do with your time. Is it valuable? Is it meeting a need or a want? Is it helping you or someone else grow? Is it encouraging? Is it beneficial? Let it all go – you can trust Me. I will give you all you need. If you would just ask – not just once but over and over. Ask me for what you need. I am waiting to open the storehouses of heaven. Increase your faith and know that I can give you everything you need Life is hard! But not so hard that I can’t give you what you need to walk this with success. I want My joy to flow in you in the middle of the junk. Open your eyes in the storm. You close them and you push through - then you are angry and stressed. Open your eyes. See, I am right here. Now take My hand and let’s walk this together. Better yet, we can dance right through it. The LORD hates what evil people do, but he loves those who do what is right. Pro 15:9 Perhaps the wound is old. A parent abused you. A teacher slighted you. A mate betrayed you… And you are angry. Or perhaps the wound is fresh. The friend who owes you money just drove by in a new car. The boss who hired you with promises of promotions has forgotten how to pronounce your name… And you are hurt. Part of you is broken, and the other part is bitter. Part of you wants to cry, and part of you wants to fight… There is a fire burning in your heart. It's the fire of anger… And you are left with a decision. "Do I put the fire out or heat it up? Do I get over it or get even? Do I release it or resent it? Do I let my hurts heal, or do I let hurt turn into hate?" … Unfaithfulness is wrong. Revenge is bad. But the worst part of all is that, without forgiveness, bitterness is all that is left. nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, to hammer a nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us. |
