And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you recognize and personally know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. DEUTERONOMY 8 : 3 WHAT ARE YOUR TRUE MOTIVES FOR SEEKING GOD IN YOUR LIFE ? .. In Deuteronomy you hear the story about the Israelites and how they wandered around, and around, and around the wilderness, facing the same problems and struggles over and over again .. Does that perhaps sound familiar to the place you find yourself in right now ? God was in fact teaching the Israelites a very vital lesson when He allowed them to experience the trials and challenges that they faced .. And perhaps it is time that you too need to face the truth and learn this lesson .. Never once did God abandon the Israelites whilst they were wandering in their wilderness, the truth is He was always there taking care of their basic requirements .. HOWEVER .. The one thing that God was not prepared to do, was fulfill all their wishes and desires and the reason for this is that God wanted the Israelites to learn the basic principle, that is shared with you in the above Scripture .. The essential truth of Deuteronomy 8 : 3 is .. You are not able to live by the worldly things alone .. " by bread alone " .. but what will give you the fruitful, abundant life that God desires you to have, is if you choose to live by the very Word that He HAS spoken to you, and if you choose to believe and have faith in His promises to you and for you. God wants to fulfill your every want and desire .. He wants you to prosper and live a life of abundance .. However, the most important thing He wants is .. He wants to know that you are prepared to trust and obey Him .. At all times .. No matter what !! At some point in your life God is going to step in to make you realize that your true life is in Him, and not in anything that the world has to offer you. It would be such a simple process if .. You would just read God's Word .. Hear His still, small voice .. And make the decision to accept and believe the Truth that God is sharing with you .. BUT .. As a human being you often just don't operate that way .. So God has to deal with you a little differently. God deals with you by allowing you to go through some challenges and difficulties, so that you are able to learn first-hand and gain the experience to know that God's way of doing things is just so much better than when you try and take control yourself. God is wise enough to know that if you are not willing to serve Him and worship Him when you are in the deepest, darkest valleys of your life .. then .. you are certainly not trustworthy enough to consistently serve Him and worship Him when things are going well for you, when you have come out of your valley and have climbed your way up to reach the mountaintops. God wants to bless you and He wants to fulfill every promise of prosperity and an abundant life that He HAS made, but in order for Him to do this, He is demanding that you give Him first place in your life .. At all times .. No matter what !! You need to be very aware that the line between serving God for what He can do for you .. and .. serving God for Who He is .. is a very, very fine line. You can far too easily be mislead into seeking God's hand, " His presents ", and not seeking His face, " His presence ", in your daily life. You need to firstly seek God, His Kingdom, His Righteousness and His glory and then everything else will follow .. Matthew 6 : 33 If you find yourself in a valley .. Worship God !! .. If you find yourself on the mountaintops .. Worship God !! .. Because once you realize that all things are equal and become the same in the Light of His Grace and Glory .. then .. and only then is God free to give you all things. Seek God only because " HE IS " and not for what He can do for you !! Always, Always, Always put God first and in accordance with His will for your life, He WILL prosper you greatly and abundantly.
